Sy, it's wonderful to read about the love you share with your mother. The food and warm clothing are so nurturing. Just reading about it makes me feel cozy. Thank you for sharing a part of your relationship. It helps me better understand who you are and how deeply connected you are to family.
This is just so gorgeous, and speaks to me so much at this point as a mother, and navigating my parents getting older, and in one case, becoming ill and frail. Beautiful my friend. Sending love.
Really loved this about your mom. I remember meeting her at your wedding, although I’m sure it was all very overwhelming for both of your parents. Your heartfelt article brought back memories of my own mother and the love things she did for us. It was a very complicated relationship but I still miss those Sunday talks on the phone where she couldn’t hear a blessed thing I said.
And you are not entering your middle age years - that would be about age 55 since we’re all going to live to be 100. Years with our parents are always evolving and it’s the memories of our youth that take us through the challenging times.

This one gave me chills. Gorgeous.
Absolutely gorgeous, Sy. What a love letter to the ways you and your mom love. Love as verb - we all have our special ways of doing it.
