Friends, I realized this past week that I have now put 10 essays/newsletters out into the world and I’m taking this week to reflect and also ask for your input.
If you’re new here and/or you’ve missed a few, here’s the full list:
#1 Always keep the receipt
#2 It was never about the blankets
#3 Ambitious and Tired. Happy Valentine’s Day
#4 The Linear Trap
#5 How I’m Building My Business in 2022
#6 SAHM, Primary Caregiver, Mom.
#7 The Unspoken Inheritance
#8 A Lineage of Love Language
#9 On Privilege, Part One
#10 On Privilege, Part Two
I started this Substack publication on a whim, but as with some of my best life decisions, it was led by my gut and intuition, not logic. In the process, I’ve discovered that the more I use my voice, the more I want to create and share. I’ve also heard from so many of you, both online and off, that these posts and queries have touched you in some meaningful way. Thank you.
I have never considered myself a writer, mostly because I’m naturally inclined to create in other forms. But that title, that identity of “writer” is one that I feel I can grow into. I’m trying it on.
The “why” of it all is still a bit nebulous, and after just a few weeks, I have to admit that my original intention behind How I’m Building This Life has already shifted.
So I’d really appreciate hearing from you:
What brings you to open these emails and read?
What are the topics that interest you? (My original intention was to stick to work/life topics, especially around having a family, but I’ve realized there’s so much more I’d love to dive into…)
Please comment and share your thoughts.
And one final thing: if you have a favorite post that you particularly enjoyed, please share it via social or just send it to a friend. Really appreciate it (0;
I look forward to hearing your take on current events, what’s happening in your life and the creative way you do it all while running your business. We don’t see each other as often as I would like so I look forward to your writing😊
I also thought that I would prefer articles about work/life stuff but have really enjoyed all of it - discussions of privilege have been especially thought-provoking. I think it's safe to say that whatever you find interesting, I (and many others) will find interesting, so please take us wherever you feel like going.
